Remote desktop problems in SoHo

Keyboard Layouts

VNC does not allow to switch keyboard layout on the remote Linux box (RHEL4). The layout should be switched on the local machine.

However, when RDP (RDPv5) is used, the layout should be switched by the remote session on the Windows box (WinSrv2003).

GDM/XDMCP in Gutsy

Download the ready package gdm_2.20.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb. The package installation will require fresh libpango1.0-0(1.18.3 instead of 1.18.2):

apt-get install libpango1.0-0 libpango1.0-common
dpkg --install gdm_2.20.2-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

RDesktop on RHEL4

rdesktop-1.3 on RHEL4 sometimes shows non-updated areas.Solution install rdesktop-1.5 from DAG repository: i386 or x86_64 rpm.
